Zohar Yosefyan


Biography:

Born in 1976 to a working class family, Zohar discovered his artistic talent as a child when he painted to escape his every day harsh reality. Due to the difficult economic situation, he worked in factories to help with the family financial challenges and at night he would roam the streets and paint on the city walls of Tel Aviv. In the early 1990s, his parents insisted he takes his life seriously and find a profession that would provide him a livelihood. The dream of becoming an artist faded and the rebellious boy grew up and earned a degree in optics to become an optician and to work with designer eye wear brands with great successes. After a health scare in 2016, Zohar understood that he had to pursue him childhood dream of being an artist and as soon as he opened his new studio his vision was clear: creating a new three-dimensional art never experienced before through optical illusions. With his technique, Zohar is a lenticular pop artist who creates unique artworks that unite the principles of optical art, 3D and kinetic art to maximize the special effect. His source of inspiration ranges from contemporary art, pop art and street art.

Zohar artworks can be categorized in two main collections:

. 3D kinetic, an optical effect formed by a combination of different images seen on different layers and revealing new elements to the viewers when they move around the work.

. 3D flip, a multilayer visual effect that allows the spectator to see 3 distinct images from 3 different angles, left, center and right.
